A large new childcare centre could be built at Mitchelton, replacing a smaller existing one, if development approval is granted by council.
The centre would be built across two properties at 112 Blaker Road and 106 Church Road in Mitchelton, and would require a two-stage redevelopment, with the 75-place existing centre staying open while another building is built, before being redeveloped itself.
The new two-storey centre would have a total of 150 places, with two elevated outdoor play areas, undercover play areas, eight activity rooms and 30 car parks.
It would operate from 6.30am to 6.30pm, Monday to Friday.
An increase in the number of childcare places will cater to the needs of local families.
