The Brisbane City Council has released its draft plan for the Enoggera Creek sport and recreation precinct covering 52 hectares along the Enoggera Creek from Windsor to Newmarket.
The plan involves an upgrade of the existing reserve and sporting facilities, with new facilities also planned, and has been divided up into three main precincts – West, East and Central.
The project would include facilities for football, baseball, softball, baseball, cricket, hockey and netball, as well as a new playground, dog park and community centre.
There has been some opposition to the draft plan, which is now out for community feedback, as it would require some sporting groups to move and lose some space.
The final precinct plan is expected to be publicly released in the middle of this year for comment.
If the revitalisation goes ahead it would benefit the area, as long as it is done in the right way, with feedback taken into consideration. Improved facilities will be a drawcard for those living in the area and looking to move into the area.
